Poel Active

On the one hand, the island of Poel stands for a quiet, relaxed holiday on the Baltic Sea in the middle of a beautiful natural landscape. On the other hand, our beaches and many leisure activities invite you to an active holiday. We will present the options of the state-approved seaside resort of the island of Poel and you can decide how you want to spend the best days of the year!

If you're already on the Baltic Sea, why not leave the safety of the ground and get a breath of fresh sea air on a Kutter (fishing boat)?! After making an appointment in advance, you have the opportunity to explore the waters of Wismar Bay from Timmendorfer Strand or try your luck at catching cod, herring and garfish.

On land, Poel also offers numerous quiet and productive places to fish. For this, you need a valid federal fishing license and a fishing permit. If you don't have a fishing license, you can purchase a temporary tourist fishing license from the tourist office "Kurverwaltung"  (validity: 28 days; cost: 24 €; extensions 13 €).

You can also get a fishing permit for fishing in the Baltic Sea in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania from the tourist office "Kurverwaltung" (cost: 6 €/day ticket; 12 €/week; 30 €/annual ticket).
Children up to 13 years of age are allowed to fish without a fishing license, but a fishing permit is also required (cost: 10 €/calendar year).

Do you prefer to take it easy on holiday?

In countless corners of the island you will find motifs that are worth photographing, painting or sketching.

In addition to a pottery workshop at Am Schwarzen Busch, there are galleries and studios of painters who want to pass on their knowledge and skills to you and encourage your talent and ideas. In individual lessons or in groups.

By the way: Have you ever painted watercolors with sea water you scooped yourself?

When you arrive, you will have already noticed that Poel is a "horse island". So why not try something new? Whether you are a beginner or already well-versed in the saddle, our Plath riding stables or the Schulz family's Neuhof stud farm will organize a ride for you according to your needs. Otherwise, you can ask about dates for a carriage ride and let us show you the island in a relaxed and comfortable way with a small horse-powered carriage.

Would you like to experience our unspoilt island of Poel, the Hanseatic city of Wismar, the Baltic Sea and coastal areas from a bird's eye view? The small sports airfield in Müggenburg offers you this unique opportunity.
