The historic narrow-gauge railway, powered by steam locomotives, runs as always between Bad Doberan, Heiligendamm and Kühlungsborn West. The route within Bad Doberan is particularly interesting, where the tracks run directly through the narrow streets of the city center.

The port city on the Baltic Sea is definitely worth a visit because of its well-preserved old town. It is also on the UNESCO World Heritage List along with the Hanseatic city of Stralsund. Gothic architecture on churches and numerous historic houses bear witness to the Hanseatic era, when Wismar experienced a great economic boom. The 16th century waterworks on the market square are the city's landmark. Typical Mecklenburg cuisine with hanseatic flair is available in the restaurant Hotel Reuterhaus.

The state capital of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, with its 95,000 inhabitants, impresses with its princely residence architecture and a great combination of various natural attractions and historical buildings. Schwerin Castle with its magnificent garden and the attractive old town are just a few highlights. Famous landscape architects created an idyllic work of art and one of the most beautiful park landscapes in Mecklenburg in the urban area. There are 10 lakes around the city of Schwerin, founded in 1160. The city itself consists of one third lakes, one third green spaces and one third buildings with its inhabitants. 2 shopping centers and small, selected boutiques within the old town round off your visit. It's all in the mix!

True to the motto "There is no such thing as bad weather, there is only the wrong clothing", we recommend a walk on the beach - even in the rain. Protected by a warm rain jacket, a cozy scarf and colorful rubber boots, nothing can stop you! Afterwards, the hot drink tastes even better in the dry and with a view of the gray water and the wild sea outside.

You can find an overview of the beaches in the "Things to know from A to Z" section under beaches: Poeler beaches
